Meet Paul Atkinson, one of our Directors and a key driving force behind the service you experience at Vasstech.

Since joining as a full partner in 2009, I’m proud to say I’ve helped steer this automotive venture from its founding days, starting at the Northallerton branch and ending up here at Vasstech Knaresborough.

Career Beginnings

My lifelong passion for cars, instilled by my father’s passion and motorsport background, led me to dive into the world of vehicle maintenance early on. From iconic cars like Lancia Integrales to Escort Cosworths, I’ve been immersed in the world of automobiles.

My journey into the VW Group began at Massingberd Volkswagen in 2001, with Vasstech founder Tim Lomas, where I proved myself from a Saturday job to a full apprenticeship, stacking up qualifications and mastering over 25 specialist Volkswagen factory training courses, eventually gaining my Master Technician qualification.

Life at Vasstech

Obviously my passion for carrying out vehicle repairs remains, but my focus has shifted to nurturing and growing our business alongside my talented staff, keeping us at the forefront of the industry.

And of course, this extends to our fantastic customer base, too. Interacting with customers is my forte – I love to explain the ins and outs of vehicles in the workshop, ensuring the customer fully understands the issue with their car – only if they’re interested, of course!

About Me

It’s probably a given that my love for all things with engines and wheels extends to my personal life, with my 1983 Vauxhall Nova Rally car that I built and clinched championships taking pride place in my garage.

Otherwise, you might find me on two wheels on my Yamaha MT09, or embracing my love for travel wherever I can. Personally, I’m an active part of the LGBTQ+ community, supporting various causes and proudly representing a sector that is rarely populated by this community.

All in all, being a part of Vasstech has enriched my life in many ways, and I feel grateful I get to integrate my passion into my day-to-day life.
