Ian Sorlie

Managing Director

Get to know Ian Sorlie, the face behind Vasstech Durham – our most recent branch in the Northeast.

As Director since the Durham branch’s inception in February 2020, my journey in anything automotive has been a dynamic ride from the start.

Career Beginnings

My Volkswagen Group journey began in 1997 as a Parts Advisor at Massingberd VW, igniting my passion for quality brands like VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda. This is also kind of where my Vasstech journey began too – meeting and working alongside Tim Lomas, Craig Mcnicol and Paul Atkison.

A brief detour into various brands like BMW, Kia, and others reaffirmed my allegiance to the exceptional quality of VAG brands.

The Vasstech Durham Way

Being positioned in a very large business park, we have become the go-to garage for most of the surrounding businesses, building up a large customer base in 4 short years, many of whom we’re on a first name basis with.

Our team of talented technicians are at the crux of this success, helping out every step of the way. And keeping our team happy and up-to-date is essential, where they attend various training courses throughout the year, currently focusing on electric and hybrid cars, keeping us at the forefront.

Customer Service Comes First

Exceptional service defines us. We tackle tough repairs with finesse, ensuring every customer leaves impressed.

A challenging Audi Q7 repair proved our commitment; despite unexpected hurdles, we kept our cool, adhered to our process, and left the customer satisfied. Our processes handle surprises, ensuring a rewarding outcome

About Me

Beyond the workshop, I’m an outdoor enthusiast – mountain biking with the team, scaling rocks with colleague Scott Doughty, and squeezing in a round of golf whenever I can.

At Vasstech Durham, it’s not just about fixing cars; it’s about fostering trust, building a fantastic team camaraderie, and delivering outstanding service, every single time.
