Volkswagen Beetle Dune…

This great little concept is not quite as exciting as it first appears!

It is in fact the second Beetle Dune concept, the first being revealed in 2000, Los Angeles.

This SUV-styled version of the retro hatchback will appear at Detroit this year.

Volkswagen are strongly hinting that this one could reach the showrooms saying that it is “very much based on the current production model”.

Power comes from the turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine that’s used for the Beetle Turbo Silver models.

We really like this Beetle Dune… The modern styling with retro touches would look fantastic parked by any surf beach!
